My Bedroom: where I dream…
A tour of my blue and brown bedroom.
I live in Roscoe Village in a three bedroom apartment with my friend Heather. We each have a bedroom to ourselves and the third we use for storage. My bedroom is pretty. It is where I sleep most nights. The blue and brown color scheme is probably less pink than you would think.
Photos of my blue and brown bedroom:
My bedroom has a light blue / teal blue / brown color scheme. It’s small, but there is enough room for me and a full bed.
My bed. I sleep with six pillows, a monkey, and a stuffed jackalope I picked up at Wall Drug. I have a textured brown duvet cover from Target and a light blue spread and pillows on top. Behind my bed there is a big world map print from These Are Things and a few art prints from Kurt Halsey.
My nightstand is at the foot of my bed, because it’s the only place it would fit. On it there is my alarm clock and a few tchotchkes. It’s surrounded by art.
I have a miniature Eiffel Tower and Space Neelde I picked up in Paris and Seattle.
Hanging on the wall are photos of Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse and a photo my grandparents took of Mount Rushmore before it was completed.
There is a jackalope feltidermy head from Girlsavage on Etsy. If you can’t tell, I like jackalopes.
There’s more Kurt Halsey artwork. This is a print of one of my favorite paintings.
I also hung some of my favorite photographs. My favorite photo of Takeru Kobayashi, the Amsterdam canals at night, and me and friends in Hyder, Alaska.
If I am given a flower I will not throw it out. It ends up in a giant teal jar. And that jar is on my floor by the window. Alongside some more teal glassware.
My replaced blue ballerina music box plays Memory. It sits on a shelf on my bookcase. I lost the original in a house fire in high school and found this same one years later on eBay.
I love flowers. I try to buy some when I can.
I have more art by Kurt Halsey. This one is the most special. It is an original drawing of me by Kurt Halsey. I won the opportunity in a contest on Livejournal.
We’ve had this dresser in my family since probably before I was born. It had a million coats of paint on it so I stripped them off and refinished it. It’s pretty and the perfect scale for a tiny room. Though it’s slightly falling apart.
More Kurt Halsey art and dragonfly art Heather made for me.
Rocks from Crazy Horse and The Spindle and a photo from Venice.
And that is my bedroom in my Roscoe Village apartment.
That is where I dream.
