Chelsa and James's Wedding

When September ends…

September. In Instagrams.

I was really sad to let me passport go. But I had less than six months validity left and a trip to Thailand in my future. Sigh. I got my first passport in 2006, at age 25 and in that time it saw me through over 30 countries. Guess it’s time to start filling my new one up!

There’s no better way to start a holiday weekend than with a fancy three-course lunch.

I took a little road trip to Ohio over Labor Day weekend. I had a lot of ground to cover to make it to a wedding and back, but still managed to squeeze in a few roadside attractions.

It was a wonderful day for a wedding! Congratulations Chelsa and James! #wedding #love #ohio

A good friend got married in Ohio with a beautiful wedding ceremony and party. It was perfect. Congratulations Chelsa and James!

The opera season in Chicago has started!

Of course, I watched some of the best competitive eaters in the world come together to eat a goat.

And I went to see A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder. Which was quite possibly the funniest thing I’ve seen in a long, long time.

Hi, I'm Val. I spent most of my 20s in a standstill, unable to pick which path in life I wanted to take. I wanted the nomadic life of a traveler but also wanted the husband, the condo, and the kitten. Unable to decide which life I wanted more, I did nothing. When I turned 30 I’d had enough of putting my life on hold and decided to start “choosing my figs.” So, I quit my job, bought a one-way ticket to Europe, and traveled for three years. Now I'm back in Chicago, decorating my apartment in all the teal, petting my cats, and planning my next adventure.
