Ubud, Bali

Ubud, Bali.

Shopping, eating, and visiting museums in Ubud, Bali.

After Sanur, Lisa and I headed to Ubud. When we arrived I said I couldn’t commit to more than three days there. She ended up staying for four. I stayed for six.

I could have stayed longer. It was the kind of place you could get stuck in for all the wrong reasons.

Amazing food, much of which was vegetarian, very little of which was Indonesian. And the desserts. Oh, the desserts!

Amazing shopping. I may have come out of there with a whole new wardrobe… (Seriously, three new dresses, a t-shirt, and a couple of necklaces. There really goes my budget…)

And even a museum devoted to a Catalan artist who lived there. And you know I love me some Catalan artists. (Although it was totally awkward when the sweet little Balinese girl working there walked into the “erotic room” to open a cabinet where a painting of a woman using a red candle as a dildo was held for me to see…)

I could have stayed there for a very long time…

Hi, I'm Val. I spent most of my 20s in a standstill, unable to pick which path in life I wanted to take. I wanted the nomadic life of a traveler but also wanted the husband, the condo, and the kitten. Unable to decide which life I wanted more, I did nothing. When I turned 30 I’d had enough of putting my life on hold and decided to start “choosing my figs.” So, I quit my job, bought a one-way ticket to Europe, and traveled for three years. Now I'm back in Chicago, decorating my apartment in all the teal, petting my cats, and planning my next adventure.

Ubud is my favorite place in Bali 🙂 Use to stay somewhere near the Antonio Blanco’s museum, not far from the bridge.
