Clubbing in Boracay, The Philippines.

The time is now.

Clubbing in Boracay, The Philippines.

I had some of the crazier nights I’ve had in a while while in Boracay.

Nights where this suppressed dancer danced and sang all night long.

Nights where we listened to acoustic music and drank happy hour Red Horses or two for one cocktails.

Nights that lasted until 7 in the morning and ended with drinking rum on the beach and as the sun rose on the wrong side of the island.

Nights watching ladyboys try to pick up my friends with lines such as “I’ve got a big pussy.”

Nights dancing with groups of Filipinos who I swear were maybe 12 years old.

Nights where I rejected way too many boys and (finally) one where I found one I liked…

Hi, I'm Val. I spent most of my 20s in a standstill, unable to pick which path in life I wanted to take. I wanted the nomadic life of a traveler but also wanted the husband, the condo, and the kitten. Unable to decide which life I wanted more, I did nothing. When I turned 30 I’d had enough of putting my life on hold and decided to start “choosing my figs.” So, I quit my job, bought a one-way ticket to Europe, and traveled for three years. Now I'm back in Chicago, decorating my apartment in all the teal, petting my cats, and planning my next adventure.
