Super Bowl Sun…errr…Monday…
Watching the Super Bowl at the Sports Corner in Bangkok, Thailand.
I don’t follow sports. I just have never really been that into them. There are a few exceptions to that, of course. I love White Sox games and Blackhawks games live. I used to love going to Illini hockey games and had season tickets in Block I for football games back in college.
And I watch the Super Bowl every year…if only for the commercials and taco dip.
And thus I decided that I couldn’t miss out even if I was halfway across the world. And thus on Monday, at 6:15 in the morning, I was standing outside the one American bar in Bangkok, with Crazy Legs and Erik and Sam and probably about every other American in Bangkok, to watch the game.
In grand Val tradition I didn’t really pay all that much attention. And, unless this year the Super Bowl was sponsored by the Indonesian travel board, we didn’t get the original commercials. But I got to see Madonna sing my favorite song ever (for the record: Like a Prayer is my favorite song ever) and I met way more Chicagoans than I’ve ever met before on this trip. And I had a great, though early, Super Bowl Monday.
