Palawan Island Hopping: Tour A

Palawan Island Hopping: Tour A

We all felt like shit that morning. The night before our hostel was burglarized. And there was nothing we could do about it.

We still went on the tour we had planned for: the Palawan Island Hopping Tour A, which included stops at Small Lagoon, Big Lagoon, Secret Lagoon, Shimizu Island, and Seven Commandos Beach.

But it was raining for the first half of the day. We were wet and miserable. We all wanted to give up, go home. We just wanted to check out of our hostel and move on, forget about El Nido.

It sucked to want to leave on such a low note, but no one felt safe or secure there anymore. We were defeated in so many ways.

The rain didn’t seem to want to let up so we tried to get our boat man to reschedule the second half of the day for the next, but he wouldn’t. So we stuck it out. The weather at least cleared a little, but we all decided we were going to leave town the next day…

Hi, I'm Val. I spent most of my 20s in a standstill, unable to pick which path in life I wanted to take. I wanted the nomadic life of a traveler but also wanted the husband, the condo, and the kitten. Unable to decide which life I wanted more, I did nothing. When I turned 30 I’d had enough of putting my life on hold and decided to start “choosing my figs.” So, I quit my job, bought a one-way ticket to Europe, and traveled for three years. Now I'm back in Chicago, decorating my apartment in all the teal, petting my cats, and planning my next adventure.
