Kuma's Corner

My blog is so behind on my life :-(

My life in food.

1. I am making Mat an awesome website. He is paying me in milkshakes. So I invited him over to work on it one day and he stopped at Margie’s…in the freezing snow…and bicycled over some milkshakes… 🙂

2. A long, long time ago Heather and I met up with Emily at Fizz for happy hour. I was hungry. I got chicken fingers.

It was delicious.

And then we went to Phyllis’ and saw some band playing. And then I went to Mat’s place and we watched TV and ate chili. It was also delicious.

3. One day when I was busy at work my coworker brought me a sandwich from Hannah’s Bretzel. Serrano ham with shaved fennel and a spiced fig chutney on organic bretzel baguette.

4. One Sunday I met up with Jenny and Chelsa and HeatherH and Stephanie at Kuma’s for burgers. I got the Black Oak Arkansas — Red wine BBQ sauce, Bacon, Aged White Cheddar, and Alpha King Battered Fried Shallot Rings.

It was delicious…and may have redeemed Kuma’s from my unimpressive first time. Though I still don’t think it’s the best burger ever…

5. For Heather’s birthday Alyssa and I took her out to Wakamono for sushi.

6. One night I met with Cornie at Frasca for dinner and got a prosciutto and arugula pizza. I didn’t take a picture. But it was delicious.

7. This is how far behind on blogging I am. I made this steak taco salad last year.

It was delicious.

8. When Mat came over to work on the website I made a roast chicken breast and mashed potatoes. I only had one chicken breast because it was the night before the storm and people were going crazy in the store and there wasn’t much food.

Hi, I'm Val. I spent most of my 20s in a standstill, unable to pick which path in life I wanted to take. I wanted the nomadic life of a traveler but also wanted the husband, the condo, and the kitten. Unable to decide which life I wanted more, I did nothing. When I turned 30 I’d had enough of putting my life on hold and decided to start “choosing my figs.” So, I quit my job, bought a one-way ticket to Europe, and traveled for three years. Now I'm back in Chicago, decorating my apartment in all the teal, petting my cats, and planning my next adventure.
