KL Tower and Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

After maybe three hours of sleep I woke up at 9:30am to grab breakfast. I probably should have wasted away my day in bed. Like a normal person would do. But no, I wanted to actually try to do something in Kuala Lumpur. And I had told Eming the night before that I’d meet her at 10am to go to the top of the KL Tower.

And so I went down, ate my eggs and beans, and then we headed off.

We headed out for some curry before going back to the hostel. She had to leave for her next town and I still had a couple of more days ahead.

That night I met up again with Manir. We chatted in the hostel bar, where I had to remind him of everything that happened the night before. And then we headed off to another bar where we met up with Joe and Gabriel, two other guys from the hostel.

After some chatting and drinking we hit the streets of Chinatown to find food. It was harder than we’d imagined and was pretty deserted at midnight.

After we finally found a place to serve us we ate our noodles and downed some beers and again ended up on the hostel roofbar.

WHen Joe asked me what I wanted I said “I shouldn’t have nay more to drink.” And then he said “I didn’t ask you what you should do.” And I replied “vodka and Sprite.”

And so we drank until around 4am, a small group from the hostel, discussing roses and books, eating frog or dog, sex machines and Catalan.

Until, in not so many words, we were kicked out…

The next morning, despite still being tired, I set out to find the Petronas Towers.

That night I went out with the unnamed traveler. We got Chinese food and beers. He stayed out for a massage and I headed back to the hostel.

I drank for a bit with Manir and some others but we called it an early night around 1 or 2…

Hi, I'm Val. I spent most of my 20s in a standstill, unable to pick which path in life I wanted to take. I wanted the nomadic life of a traveler but also wanted the husband, the condo, and the kitten. Unable to decide which life I wanted more, I did nothing. When I turned 30 I’d had enough of putting my life on hold and decided to start “choosing my figs.” So, I quit my job, bought a one-way ticket to Europe, and traveled for three years. Now I'm back in Chicago, decorating my apartment in all the teal, petting my cats, and planning my next adventure.

This looks cool. I some how never realized that KL is that close to the hills. I guess I never realized anything about KL. I just hear about the towers and the airport.
Bit disappointed that there are no food pics. 🙁 Usually you snap everything you eat.
