Flamenco in Madrid, Spain

I think I’ve found a new career.

Can I move to Spain and become a flamenco dancer?

I think that would be a lovely life.

I suppose I need to learn flamenco first. But I’m a really good dancer, I swear, and flamenco doesn’t require me to be flexible because it’s all little steps. It’s perfect, really.

Maybe I have a new career on my hands…

I ended up going to my fourth flamenco show of this trip while in Madrid. Some girls in my room were planning on going and invited me along. We stopped for a pretty awful meal in a very touristy spot (I should have spoken up knowing very well that it would be awful and expensive, but thus is life).

And then we got ice cream.

And then we drank some sangria and watched as four different dancers performed.

Yeah, I could probably do that every night…

Hi, I'm Val. I spent most of my 20s in a standstill, unable to pick which path in life I wanted to take. I wanted the nomadic life of a traveler but also wanted the husband, the condo, and the kitten. Unable to decide which life I wanted more, I did nothing. When I turned 30 I’d had enough of putting my life on hold and decided to start “choosing my figs.” So, I quit my job, bought a one-way ticket to Europe, and traveled for three years. Now I'm back in Chicago, decorating my apartment in all the teal, petting my cats, and planning my next adventure.
