Salmon and Mashed Potatoes

Home alone.

A weekend to myself in Barcelona.

Over last weekend my hosts went out of town.

Now, let me tell you, it’s been a long time since I’ve had a place, or a weekend entirely to myself…

So I had a thrilling weekend of doing nothing.

I did such exciting things as watching TV (including many episodes of the Simpsons, even the ones that for some reason wouldn’t translate back into English) and doing my laundry and cooking bacon and eggs and mashed potatoes (things I very much miss).

And I stayed up late doing nothing because some local concerts were blasting 80s cover bands until 3 in the morning.

And I took a walk along the beach and then went to get tacos. TACOS!

I did pry myself away from the apartment/neighborhood Sunday night to meet up with Gabriella from Catavino. We got had some wine. And it was awesome.

Hi, I'm Val. I spent most of my 20s in a standstill, unable to pick which path in life I wanted to take. I wanted the nomadic life of a traveler but also wanted the husband, the condo, and the kitten. Unable to decide which life I wanted more, I did nothing. When I turned 30 I’d had enough of putting my life on hold and decided to start “choosing my figs.” So, I quit my job, bought a one-way ticket to Europe, and traveled for three years. Now I'm back in Chicago, decorating my apartment in all the teal, petting my cats, and planning my next adventure.
