It’s been a year since I adopted my cats. I’m not sure exactly which day to count as their official “adoption day.” The day I decided to adopt them? The day I sent the email requesting to adopt them? The day I signed the paperwork? The day I got the paperwork back? The day I got the paperwork back that they actually remembered to sign?
In any case, it was sometime last January.
By the time I adopted my cats they had already been living with me for seven months, so, really, at that point, it was mostly just legalities. And I celebrate their birthdays in March and October with sparkly hats, tuna, and all the toys. And I celebrate the day they started living with me as fosters in June, so the actual adoption day didn’t need much fanfare.
Still, Rooney and Ford are pretty much my favorite thing in the world and are pretty much the greatest cats in the world, so they deserve to be celebrated any chance I get. Plus, they are highly photogenic and the world deserves to see massive amounts of photos of them…right?
So, in honor of their adoption month, here is a gratuitous amount of cat photos chronicling the last year of our lives together: from playing with toys to dressing as pizza cats for Halloween to getting their new massive cat tree to the approximately ten bazillion naps they took.
I admit that I created this post of gratuitous cat photos simply, selfishly, so that I have a single place to return to to see all their photos from our first official year together at once, because I tend to forget photos exist if they don’t exist on my blog. Plus, they are adorable and therefore you should ogle them. Plus, if there is anything the internet needs more of, it’s cats.
(BTW if you can’t wait a whole year to see the next batch of cat photos, you can follow Rooney and Ford on Instagram and Facebook.)

BUCKET LIST IDEA: ADOPT CATS. | Gratuitous cat photos. Because the internet needs more cats.
Hi, I'm Val. I spent most of my 20s in a standstill, unable to pick which path in life I wanted to take. I wanted the nomadic life of a traveler but also wanted the husband, the condo, and the kitten. Unable to decide which life I wanted more, I did nothing. When I turned 30 I’d had enough of putting my life on hold and decided to start “choosing my figs.” So, I quit my job, bought a one-way ticket to Europe, and traveled for three years. Now I'm back in Chicago, decorating my apartment in all the teal, petting my cats, and planning my next adventure.
