Granada, Nicaragua

Granada.

Four days in Granada, Nicaragua.

Granada, Nicaragua, was a beautiful town. I could have probably stayed for a while: I had thought about making it a home for a couple of weeks and studying more Spanish. But I ended up spending only four nights there, and then hardly actually in the town, doing day trips just about every day. Some day, maybe, I will return and work more on my Spanish. Because the time I did spend there was wonderful. A mix of wandering the square, eating street food and “the best fish and chips in Central America, celebrating last nights, drinking cheap bottles of rum from teacups, partying with locals by the waterfront…

Hi, I'm Val. I spent most of my 20s in a standstill, unable to pick which path in life I wanted to take. I wanted the nomadic life of a traveler but also wanted the husband, the condo, and the kitten. Unable to decide which life I wanted more, I did nothing. When I turned 30 I’d had enough of putting my life on hold and decided to start “choosing my figs.” So, I quit my job, bought a one-way ticket to Europe, and traveled for three years. Now I'm back in Chicago, decorating my apartment in all the teal, petting my cats, and planning my next adventure.
