Thursday. After a bagel with Will. After a quick stop at the rest area because Flopsy needed a bathroom break. After a detour to see a big pencil. I left Virginia and rolled my way into North Carolina. I headed out to Mt. Airy, North Carolina: AKA Mayberry. A town devoted to Andy Griffith. And I met up with Sadie! Sadie is a HungrySister who I know through competitive eating and is awesome and saw that I kind of had not much to do for a bit and offered to let me come stay with her a day earlier than planned! In "Mayberry" there was a...

It's weird how unweird things are sometimes. Like how you can spend a night hanging out with someone you met in a bar in a foreign country two years ago and hadn't seen since and how it's weird but not really that weird at the same time. Like Wednesday. Wednesday I woke up in a cheap Super 8. I bided my time watching Food Network as I got ready for the day and didn't check out until right before the 11am check out as I still had no idea what the actual plan for the day was. Determined to get coffee that wasn't...

Sometimes a trip seems a day or two too long. It can happen when you need to get from point A to point B to point C and point B is only in town on a Wednesday and point C is going on on a Saturday and there was no reason not to leave point A on the previous Saturday. And so you just have all this extra time and not enough planned out to see. And let me tell you, I'm a planner. Yesterday and today were just those days. When I set out planning I wasn't sure where or...

I made the decision, this morning, on the second day of my Virginia road trip, to make a b-line for Alexandria. I had a few stops at roadside attractions scheduled but nothing really stood out and I figured I'd rather make it to Virginia early. And by early I mean early afternoon. I did drive by a giant cross which was not as impressive as the world's largest cross in Effingham. And I stopped off to see the world's largest apple. Which was awesome. And then I drove to Alexandria to see Rob and Christine. We chilled around their place and watched Plan 9...

So, I just got back from my extended weekend in Washington D.C., my last scheduled event for Val's Best Summer Ever (although since it doesn't officially end until I find a job, whether next week or next February, stay tuned for more events!) and my first time seeing Rob since he moved there like a billion years ago. Yay, 'twas tons of fun! Here's a recap:   BUT FIRST! SNAKES ON A KITTY!   Thursday: So, I was supposed to meet everyone in Washington D.C. and go out to a cool seafood place for dinner and drinks and fried donuts, but alas my flight...

I'll be in Washington D.C./Virginia until Monday! Yay! Hmm, I need to either find a job or schedule more vacations now. :) Here is a tentative schedule of doings for the weekend according to Chris: Thurs: Val shows up, group dinner at Flying Fish, meet, greet, laugh, shake off jet lag. Fri: DC At Night. Dinner somewhere or other, go into the city after dark and see monuments. Perhaps late night snacks/drinks if we're feeling bold Sat: Zoo. See animals, laugh, eat outrageous zoo food. Sun: Art. See the hirshorn, see awesome art, eat outrageous museum...
