Over Labor Day weekend Emily and I took a Chicago to Mount Rushmore road trip through Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, South Dakota, Nebraska, and Iowa. I have this photo. It's a picture of Mount Rushmore with a face missing that my grandparents took a very long time ago. The monument was still under construction and Theodore Roosevelt, the 26th President of the United States, was still yet to be carved into the mountain. It's my favorite photograph that I own. I'd never seen Mount Rushmore myself, in person, so, as I happened to have a four-day weekend off over Labor Day I decided that it was the perfect time to pack up black pickle and head on over on a road trip to South Dakota.
