Saturday I woke up at around 8am and enjoyed the hotel's continental breakfast. Actually I just ate cereal and then kicked myself when I saw that around the corner they had biscuits and gravy that I missed! Brian skipped the breakfast, he didn't want to eat anything before his big competitive eating debut! It was the day of the Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest Qualifier in Kansas City, Missouri. We had some time before the contest so we headed off to Lee's Summit to see a restaurant that supposedly had a giant pepper flying a plane on its roof. It did...

Friday morning I woke up at 5am and was out the door around 5:45 on my way to Urbana to pick up my friend Brian. We were heading off on a Missouri road trip from Chicago to Kansas City. I picked up Brian around 7 and we hit the road to more dangerous trying to film stuff while I drive driving! Our first and only roadside attraction stop in Illinois was the World's Largest Catsup Bottle in Collinsville. I'd seen it before, but as ketchup is probably one of my favorite inventions ever, it is probably one of my favorite...

I spent the last three days roadtripping Missouri! The trip was total awesomesauce (you might even say it was the greatest road trip since sliced bread) and I am exhausted! I'll be posting a recap and tons of photos hopefully tomorrow. For now here's a peek at every roadside attraction we saw! Apparently Michigan is in the Eastern time zone. In retrospect I probably already knew that but it never occurred to me to even check. Luckily, I was alerted to this fact the night before I went on my road trip to Southgate, Michigan, and, therefore, made it in plenty of time to watch the calamari eating contest! I woke up at 6am Saturday and was at the Starbucks on the corner by 7. I needed coffee to keep me going. What really is funny to me is that driving the 2 hours to Champaign used to feel like forever and a...

Things learned on my Metropolis road trip: 1. I am a good driver when I am paying attention. 2. Louisville Kentucky is three hours from the Illinois/Kentucky border. 3. When someone says "It's $3 for this museum or $5 for both" the deal isn't always a good deal. 4. It is really hard to try to take photos, take video, and update twitter all at the same time. 5. 4am is a time that should not exist. 6. Yup, I definitely am Mel...

Saturday we had a day of touring Washington D.C. I managed to not eat breakfast or lunch and get a massive headache which turned into massive nausea, which turned into me dropping my nose ring down the sink! Coke + Tylenol + nap + cheesits + water helped on the nausea/headache front. But my nose still had to be naked for the wedding :-( But anyways. We woke up early and headed off to D.C. We had a couple of cars of people and collectively we managed to not meet up together and not really do anything. I started off my day with...

Friday, after a late night at the hospital, after waking up early, after taking off, after a bumpy landing, after a bumpy metro ride, and after a bumpy cab ride, I made it to a motel in Greenbelt, Maryland. Luckily they let me check in both early and despite the fact that my name is not Walter. So I threw up in the bathroom and took a nap. Lovely eh? But anyways. Walter and Heather arrived and then we took off for CVS, hung out in the hotel room, and then grabbed dinner at Friday's where we had the slowest service ever. Then we headed...

Saturday morning Flopsy and I woke up bright and early to pick up Brian and Paul and head out on a ROAD TRIP (yes Scott, it IS a road trip even if we only drive an hour away) to Woodstock, IL. "Why Woodstock?" you may ask. Well, Woodstock, my friends, was the filming site of a little movie we like to call Groundhog Day. Despite the fact that the movie is fifteen years old and despite the fact that it's Thanksgiving Weekend, I can see no better place to go then to see all the places the movie was filmed! In...
