When people ask me why I love to travel one of my first answers is always the people. I love to travel for the people I meet. I sometimes forget that there's an alternate world out there. One where I can spend a night in a dress, sipping expensive cocktails at a rooftop bar that doesn't allow you to wear shorts and that has an amazing view instead of my usual outings of chugging Changs or Singhas in a backpacker bar. Khao San Road is stretch in Bangkok where backpackers seem to conglomerate. Before coming I had this image in my head of it being some seedy street, dark and dangerous, a 24-hour party. In reality, it was mostly just restaurants and stores that all seemed to close down around 3:30am. How anyone can be hungry after eating over a hundred (or 200) wontons is beyond me. But, after the contest, after drinking a few beer's in Crazy Legs's room, we set out to find food. It was late, and we couldn't find anything open. A cab driver, of course, offered to take us somewhere, which I pretty much knew was a mistake. But we were hungry. And desperate.
