Saturday was RedBone Willy's Bluegrass & Acoustic Music Festival in Lawndale, North Carolina! Sadie and I left her place early for the drive to the festival. And on our way we stopped for some breakfast to give me my first taste of Bojangles (not to be confused with Heather's cat). We met up with her sisters Carrie and Jamie (the other half of the Hungry Sisters) and a whole bunch of others for the day. We spent the day listening to some awesome bluegrass music and drinking and eating hanging out and moving with the shade and eating the best grilled...

Sadie had to work this morning but when she was done she raced back home to start our day's adventure! She got a nice slice of a day in the life of Silly America, and I got a nice slice of NC BBQ (quite literally!) Out first stop was Korner's Folly, a house that contains 22 rooms spread out over 7 levels on 3 floors...

Thursday. After a bagel with Will. After a quick stop at the rest area because Flopsy needed a bathroom break. After a detour to see a big pencil. I left Virginia and rolled my way into North Carolina. I headed out to Mt. Airy, North Carolina: AKA Mayberry. A town devoted to Andy Griffith. And I met up with Sadie! Sadie is a HungrySister who I know through competitive eating and is awesome and saw that I kind of had not much to do for a bit and offered to let me come stay with her a day earlier than planned! In "Mayberry" there was a...

It's weird how unweird things are sometimes. Like how you can spend a night hanging out with someone you met in a bar in a foreign country two years ago and hadn't seen since and how it's weird but not really that weird at the same time. Like Wednesday. Wednesday I woke up in a cheap Super 8. I bided my time watching Food Network as I got ready for the day and didn't check out until right before the 11am check out as I still had no idea what the actual plan for the day was. Determined to get coffee that wasn't...

Sometimes a trip seems a day or two too long. It can happen when you need to get from point A to point B to point C and point B is only in town on a Wednesday and point C is going on on a Saturday and there was no reason not to leave point A on the previous Saturday. And so you just have all this extra time and not enough planned out to see. And let me tell you, I'm a planner. Yesterday and today were just those days. When I set out planning I wasn't sure where or...

I made the decision, this morning, on the second day of my Virginia road trip, to make a b-line for Alexandria. I had a few stops at roadside attractions scheduled but nothing really stood out and I figured I'd rather make it to Virginia early. And by early I mean early afternoon. I did drive by a giant cross which was not as impressive as the world's largest cross in Effingham. And I stopped off to see the world's largest apple. Which was awesome. And then I drove to Alexandria to see Rob and Christine. We chilled around their place and watched Plan 9...

OK. I am doing it. In the morning I am hopping in my car and taking the biggest longest road trip I've ever taken and driving by myself further than I've even driven by myself before to a couple of states I have never been to before! It's kind of scary and I'm kind of worried that something will happen and I won't know what to do and I'm kind of thinking I should stop for an oil change along the route. But I'm going! This is my anticipated route, although things often and always change (especially since the person I...

My poor little blog feels neglected. :-( First I broke her. Second I haven't been keeping up posting to her. Third I put the redesign of another site above her. I think she hates me. But I promise, dear blog, that I will be posting regularly again soon and after this weekend's crazy renegade road trip I will give you your much needed facelift...
