After every one of Mat's improv shows he asks me how it was. And I reply, "it was good." It's happened for so long that it's now just a joke, he answers himself in tandem as I do. "It was good." What can I say, I've never been one for critiquing things. His improv team, 98.6, formed in 2010, and I've been going to his shows regularly since. They call me their superfan and abuse my willingness to photograph their shows for free. But I usually get a free rum and Coke or two out of the deal, so all is...

Sixteen months ago I stood outside of Underground Lounge, crying, and told him I may never see him again. He said that was ridiculous. But, to me, it was a strong possibility. Part of the reason I wanted to travel was to get over him. I started planning my round the world trip sometime during a two-year stretch where he had decided to cut me out of his life. I still loved him. I still thought about him way too much. And I knew that I had to do something drastic to finally, once and for all, move on. And I...

Yesterday. He bought me a chocolate milkshake from Margie's and we watched Journey to the Center of the Earth, which was quite possibly the worst movie ever made and was, sadly, short on dinosaurs. I helped teach him how to update his website so he wouldn't have to ask me every time it needed sto make a change. I drove to Wrigleyville and cried a little on the way and then cried, again, when I got there and realized I had to park during a Cubs game. I found him and made him park my car for me. We got Ian's pizza, mine...

1. I went to watch Mat's improv team improvise at a sandwich shop. I drank a raspberry beer that tasted too much like beer. Their improv show was funny. Mat complains that that's all I ever say. I say it's good constructive criticism. Afterward we went for a drink at Zakopane and then back to Mat's place. It was midnight but we got pizza. And donuts. And ice cream. And we played the original Trivial Pursuit. I was wrong about 80s Trivial pursuit being hard. Trivial pursuit in general is just hard. I think the cat won. Or maybe the ice cream.   2....

Thursday night was the final 98.6 improv show at The Call, and since they apparently missed me last week I went out with bells on. Well, I wasn't actually wearing bells. But I had on a pretty headband, does that count? I even celebrated by busting out my uber-lens which is normally used primarily for competitive eating. First up of the night was #1 Pencil. Who were three guys. Who apparently liked to hold each other and give each other massages.   Then was Mat's group 98.6.   And Neighborhood Watch: a guy-girl duo who improved on the suggestion of being an eight year...

Thursday night I went to go see Mat's improv group 98.6 perform at The Call. Note to self: eat before you go next time. Or at least don't not eat, drink four drinks, then walk 3.5 miles home in the heat before scarfing down a grilled cheese and fries at 11 at night. Or else you will feel very sick. Just sayin. Anyways. The show was awesome and there were four different improv/comedy groups. And I took pictures. This is Mat. he likes to wear little boy shirts and drink beer and not shave.   Ditty   98.6   The Larry Bird & John Stockton Variety Hour   Lauren Maul ...
