It's been a while since I've had a real true girls' night out. And of course, there is probably no better excuse for one than a new Sex and the City movie. So Friday, after lazily waking up in Wicker Park around 11 and watching some old TV, I headed home and gussied up in a cute little dress and headed down to the loop. I met with Meredith and some of her friends at The Purple Pig, which I was so excited about as it's a new bar that I've been anxious about trying. I mean, their motto is...

I'm on a four-day weekend for Memorial Day. It's not often I have a Friday off let alone both a Friday and Monday and haven't had a day off all year that didn't involve something medical. The last vacation time I used I took 12 days around Christmas and every single one of them was spent in pain on the couch with a backache. So I wanted to jump right in and take advantage. Thursday night after work I met up with Kate (who recently moved to the city) and we took a train to the burbs to meet up with...

1. Seriously. I think of everything in terms of food. I was waiting and waiting and waiting for today because on day three after getting my wisdom teeth removed I am allowed "soft foods" which is way more substance than the pudding and ice cream diet I was on yesterday. Don't get me wrong, I love pudding and ice cream. But sometimes a girl needs more! So I was excited this morning to make some scrambled eggs...

Friday night Chelsa and JennyS and HeatherH and I headed out to Wheeling to enjoy some Superdawg! I went to the new Superdawg Wheeling location back in January on the night it opened, but the signature fiberglass hot dogs weren't quite roof ready yet, so I told Chelsa we had to go as soon as they were up...

1. Thursday night Mat came over. I made a pizza because I had leftover cheese and sauce. Then I realized I also had onion and garlic so I made a caramelized onion and garlic pizza. Delicious. We watched Atonement. How the heck was that an Oscar-nominated movie? It was awful! At first it was interesting, I really did love the first half hour or so, but then it just kept getting worse and worse. Awful. And (spoiler) I hate movies that just kind of end with someone wrapping everything up for you. And this was the worst because they not only...

1. Mat always complains that I use the term "improv" incorrectly. For instance I will say "I'm going to watch you improv tonight." Which, apparently, is a completely wrong usage of the word. You can watch improv but you watch people improvise. Which, personally, I think is silly. So one day he told me to just use "improvate," and he said it didn't matter how I used it because it's a made up word. So, cut to Sunday night, while watching Middle Age Comeback, the dude on stage actually used "improvating" in a sentence. And it was weird. 2. So Sunday...

1. I realized that we've been hanging out for a year now. And haven't fought or cried. I think that is a record for us getting along by about 11 and a half months. 2. FYI, a giant road sign that says "Driving distracted is both unsafe and irresponsible" is kind of distracting. 3. Note to self: do not store carrots and crackers in the same container. It will end badly. 4. This morning was one of those mornings that made me think that I shouldn't get out of bed. First I broke my favorite jeans. Then my CTA pass...

1. I went to Trader Joe's on Saturday. I spent $40 and figured out that it would make a grand total of 13 meals. Which is pretty awesome. Of course, that means I am eating chicken stir fry three times, chicken pizza twice, cheese/crackers/fruit three times (for work lunches), pasta three times, and mushroom bites twice. But it's economical. My best find was a bag of multi-color frozen pepper strips. Because I am not a big fan of peppers but I like a little in my stir frys and this gives me three different peppers that I only need to...
