I sent Christmas cards for the first time ever this year. Every year I think about doing it, usually briefly, and then dismiss the idea. I mean, it's one of those things adults should probably do. Like buying a Swiffer and making unprompted dentist appointments. But sending Christmas cards always seemed like too much effort. You have to buy the cards. The perfect cards. You have to sign the cards. With the perfect greeting. You have to gather everyone's addresses. And not forget anyone. And then put all of those addresses on envelopes. And you have to figure out how one...

What drinks do you think of when you think of the holidays? A warm mug of hot chocolate? A glass of mulled wine? A cup of hot buttered rum? A margarita? (I mean, to each their own, I guess.) Do you think of eggnog? Do you even like eggnog? I feel like it's one of those drinks you either love or you hate. And, I'm not going to lie: eggnog is one of those things that I can take or leave. I sometimes crave it come December but, usually, after one glass, I'm good for another year. And, usually, I don't go out and...

Growing up, we didn't have the internet. And so, Christmas shopping wasn't as easy as consulting a link to an Amazon wish list and pressing a one-click buy button. If you needed to go Christmas shopping (or, you know, shopping shopping) you had to get off your ass and go out into the cold and brave the overstuffed stores in the local mall. Online shopping just wasn't a thing that existed and making a Christmas list involved more than just clicking a little heart icon next to the product you wanted or creating a Pinterest board to send to your...

I realize that this recipe for peppermint mocha pudding shots makes (over) 50 shots of pudding. I also realize that that is an awful lot of pudding. But, hear me out. It was 2am. I was drunk. And I just wanted the damn things to have the actual consistency of pudding. Actually, I just wanted to sit and stare for a while. But I needed to finish the pudding. You see, if there's one thing my department at work is famous for, it's throwing the most kick-ass pot lucks. And if there's one thing I'm famous for at work, it's bringing pudding shots to...

My family celebrated Christmas yesterday. It makes sense, really. We have such a small family and we all live somewhere in Chicago or the suburbs that we see each other often enough. And there are so few of us that it's a little repetitive to do both Christmas end Christmas Eve. And so I will spend Christmas getting coffee at Dunkin Donuts (it was much closer than the nearest open Starbucks), seeing Into the Woods, and then getting Chinese food for dinner. A nice, quiet, peaceful day....

There's nothing like a slew of holiday parties to make you totally re-asess all your priorities. All of them. Don't get me wrong, I still plan to head back on the road soon. And I don't plan on having babies any time soon. Any. Time. Soon. Or at all. Maybe. I don't know anymore. I'm a mess. But my friend Josh did just have the most adorable girl in the world who was born with more hair on her head than I'll ever have. And I totally wanted to steal her. Though, I'd probably give her back once the diaper...

A few years ago my family stopped celebrating Christmas on Christmas. It was a logical decision. Our family is pretty small and we all live close, in Chicago and the suburbs, so we can see each other at any time. And my oldest sister is married and has a whole other side to her family. Since there really is no use to do the same thing two days in a row, she hosts a party on Christmas Eve, and then we're all free to do as we please on Christmas. Every year growing up Christmas was the same. On Christmas Eve...
