1. July 5th I woke up in New York. We packed our bags and checked out of the hotel and stopped at a McDonald's for a bite. I wasn't totally hungry so I just got some fries and since I am not drinking soda I tried one of their new smoothies which wasn't too bad. We left for the airport and I got there way too early so I read four days worth of twitter from my phone to catch up. I considered getting on an earlier flight but didn't want to spend $50 so I waited it out....

Last Friday I didn't have to work, it was another one of my summer scheduling days. I love having every other Friday off. I wanted to get out of the apartment, not sit around all day, so I decided to head off to the Taste. Yes, I know most Chicagoans pretty much hate the Taste of Chicago, but I'm a rare breed who likes it. Granted, I hate the crowds and I hate the cost, but I still enjoy myself. Hey, any festival based around food is AOK in my book. Plus I had had a mad craving for stuffed...

1. Last Wednesday I stopped by Chelsa's to watch the last Stanley Cup game. Blackhawks won! And we ate turkey sloppy joes and Blackhawks cookies. 2. I decided against braving the crowd to watch the Blackhawks parade on Friday. I did take this photo at my work on Monday though. 3. When I taste the deliciousness of strawberry lemonade I question what I ever saw in Coke. 4. Last night I went to get dinner with Mat. I am pretty sure my sangria was made with a can of fruit salad medley. And by "pretty sure" I mean "positive." 5. Last Thursday I met...

One of the best foods in the world: ribs. My favorite "sport" in the world: competitive eating. Combine the two and you've got a deliciously messy afternoon in the city at the RibMania Ribs Eating Contest at Ribfest Chicago. Friday was opening day of this year's Ribfest and the festival was tipped off with a professional ribs eating contest. By this time last year I had already seen four eating contests. This year, since my teeth problems took away a good chunk of my time and money, I had to cancel some of my previous plans, making this on my first...

On Monday Jen was in town (yay!) and so was Kurt (yay!) so I hiked it over to the bean to meet them at lunch time. Jen and Kurt had just been to the new(ish) modern wing at the Art Institute so Kurt was inspired to create some post-modern art of his own...

It's been a while since I've had a real true girls' night out. And of course, there is probably no better excuse for one than a new Sex and the City movie. So Friday, after lazily waking up in Wicker Park around 11 and watching some old TV, I headed home and gussied up in a cute little dress and headed down to the loop. I met with Meredith and some of her friends at The Purple Pig, which I was so excited about as it's a new bar that I've been anxious about trying. I mean, their motto is...
