I've been trying to get to more good restaurants this year. Luckily Joe and Meredith have spearheaded a movement to get together once a month at a place we've all wanted to try. Unluckily they will soon be moving to Pittsburgh so this newly found tradition will probably be short lived. Last weekend though was our second installment at one of the current "it" places of Chicago: Girl & The Goat, a semi-casual West Loop restaurant opened by Top Chef winner Stephanie Izard. The restaurant has a goat theme with goats on the walls, the staff t-shirts, the menus and even...

Lately, in an attempt to restore my blog fully, I've been going back through old photos to recreate old galleries. This means looking at a lot of pictures I haven't looked at in years and laughing to myself at how bad they are. While I still have trouble even calling myself a "photographer" I can definitely see a lot of growth and there is a big difference from where I was just a few years ago. I've been taking photography classes in an attempt to really understand photography and how to use my camera. I can finally shoot on fully manual...

Thursday night was the final 98.6 improv show at The Call, and since they apparently missed me last week I went out with bells on. Well, I wasn't actually wearing bells. But I had on a pretty headband, does that count? I even celebrated by busting out my uber-lens which is normally used primarily for competitive eating. First up of the night was #1 Pencil. Who were three guys. Who apparently liked to hold each other and give each other massages.   Then was Mat's group 98.6.   And Neighborhood Watch: a guy-girl duo who improved on the suggestion of being an eight year...

Yesterday was cold and rainy. I got coffee. I came home. I drank my coffee. My internet and TV went out and I was bored. So I decided to leave ridiculously early. Which meant I decided to walk where I was going. Which was Wicker Park. Which was about three miles away. I left and then went right back to get a sweatshirt. Because it was chilly. I got to Wicker Park and walked around the Renegade Craft Fair. I quickly figured out that there were way too many things I wanted to buy, so I just started grabbing business cards so I...

1. Whenever I find a band I like, inevitably they have played down the block from me a few months ago. 2. They've made a pea puree on at least half of the episodes on Top Chef this season. 3. I like to wear clothes in layers. One day this week I realized that I was wearing five shirts. That might have been overkill. 4. Looking at my road trip photos I have determined that I really need to get my camera cleaned. 5. Monday I had to leave Mat's place early because he had to golf. So I chilled on the couch all...

1. a lady offered me a seat on the train. No. An oldish lady gathered her three grocery-sized bags of stuff and reached over other standing women to tap me and offer me her seat even though she was not getting off. While I appreciate that there are people who will offer their seats to pregnant ladies I am not one of them....

My friend Rob was the one who introduced me, and probably all of us in college, to Troll 2. Troll 2 is a movie, not in any way connected to the movie Troll, that contains no trolls, with horrible acting, a horrible script, a horrible premise, a horrible just about anything else you can think of. Quite honestly,it's the worst movie ever made. The only movie with a O% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. A movie about vegetarian goblins in the town of Nilgob (Goblin spelled backwards) who turn unsuspecting visitors into plants so they can eat them. I am...
