Last time I checked in I told you that while my blogging has been down, my gym attendance has been up. I'm both happy and sad to report that that's still the case. I still have so many things I want to write about, so many half-written posts or unwritten ideas floating around the head. But I'm embracing this newfound dedication towards actually taking advantage of my gym membership. Honestly, I've also been kind of enjoying pretending like I don't have a blog (or three) to tend to. I love blogging, I love my blog, but it is a massive time suck....

It's nearly 2016 and I can't believe this year is almost over. It doesn't feel like a whole year, an entire 365 days, has passed since the last New Years. But, here we are. I've made it no secret that I've felt off this year. That nothing was really clicking for me. That I was just stuck. Every time I felt like I was coming out of this hole something happened to push me back in. Nothing big, mind you, just small set backs. A friend moving away, jury duty, throwing my back out, bronchitis, jet lag, insomnia, moving and all...

I still have trouble with balance. Even more so now that I'm home. I have work, my blog, the gym, an apartment to keep clean and to furnish. I have a million other things I want to be doing, a million other things I should be doing. Even in my most productive weeks I'll only check off a third of my to-do list only to add more for the next week. I keep telling myself that soon one thing will be finished and I'll have more free time. But then I make up some new project and am back at...

My friends are starting to have babies. Considering that I am almost 30 this probably shouldn't be any sort of shock and is probably long overdue. In fact it was inevitably only a matter of time and guessing as to who would be the first. Cue Joe and Alina. This weekend was their baby shower. Heather and I won the name that tune game. Well technically I'd say Heather won it and I was just her partner who sat there and let her fill in all of the answers because I know nothing about music. I did get one song title though that...

Sunday we threw a baby shower for my sister. I really shouldn't be allowed to throw a baby shower as I refused to do anything babyish. It was kind of an owl-themed baby shower. But kind of not. (There wasn't much reason for the owl theme other than the fact that the only baby shower invitations I found that I liked had owls on them. So we got some owl decorations, made an owl cake, and called it a theme.) We had bagels and I made some killer hot chocolate in a crock pot. I also made an owl cake for...

Sometimes you spend $75 on ingredients to make a cake only to taste the batter and think "huh, tastes just like the stuff from a box." And sometimes I really think people overestimate my artistic ability. In any case, I spent the last two days baking an owl-themed baby shower cake for my sister's baby shower. And my hands are currently three different colors. But I guess it came out OK. I'm just hoping it doesn't make its way to Cake Wrecks. ...
