What I ate in Cambodia

Cambodia cuisine: what I ate in Cambodia.

I really liked all of the Cambodian cuisine I tried, from traditional foods to bbqs on the beach in Sihanoukville to vegetarian food in Battambang to pizza on Pub Street.

I ate spring rolls, beef lok lak, pork lok lak, dumplings, cashew shrimp, fried shrimp, noodles with chicken, noodles with pork, noodles with squid, noodles with mushrooms, sweet and spicy fish, fish in coconut milk, and fruit in coconut milk.

And, of course, I fulfilled a lot of cravings from home too. Because I always just want pizza. And fried fish.

And then there was one of my most memorable meals in Cambodia, when my friend Corey and I sat down at a restaurant featuring an entire cow on a spit.

Here’s everything I ate in Cambodia…

Hi, I'm Val. I spent most of my 20s in a standstill, unable to pick which path in life I wanted to take. I wanted the nomadic life of a traveler but also wanted the husband, the condo, and the kitten. Unable to decide which life I wanted more, I did nothing. When I turned 30 I’d had enough of putting my life on hold and decided to start “choosing my figs.” So, I quit my job, bought a one-way ticket to Europe, and traveled for three years. Now I'm back in Chicago, decorating my apartment in all the teal, petting my cats, and planning my next adventure.
