April Showers: Meredith’s Purple Wedding Shower

Saturday was Meredith’s wedding shower! It was at an old courthouse that apparently was right next to their apartment. It was in their common room which was weird because I kept forgetting it wasn’t someone’s house. It basically looked like a model apartment staged to be all neutral and appealing. It was a pretty nice place.

We ate sandwiches and salads and then played a Price is Right game where we had to guess the prices of a few household items. I totally lost because apparently Brita filters cost $20. I think I guessed $5. Some of us are perfectly content drinking water straight from the tap. 🙂

Then Meredith opened all her gifts while we played a game where we guessed what gifts she would get.

I think Joe has the most talented grandparents ever. Not only does his grandmother bake amazingly well but she knit her a gorgeous afghan and his grandfather made her a glass angel! My mom made herself a quilt and somehow managed to have twelve squares on one side and ten on the other…

After presents we had cupcakes and cookies and chocolate fountain goodness. Yum!

Hi, I'm Val. I spent most of my 20s in a standstill, unable to pick which path in life I wanted to take. I wanted the nomadic life of a traveler but also wanted the husband, the condo, and the kitten. Unable to decide which life I wanted more, I did nothing. When I turned 30 I’d had enough of putting my life on hold and decided to start “choosing my figs.” So, I quit my job, bought a one-way ticket to Europe, and traveled for three years. Now I'm back in Chicago, decorating my apartment in all the teal, petting my cats, and planning my next adventure.
